4th Annual Charlotte Area 'Know Your Farms' Tour: Volunteers Needed at Mecklenburg County Farms
Four Mecklenburg County farms will be featured in the fourth annual Know Your Farms Tour on September 15 and 16 from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to coordinate farm tourists at East of Eden in Huntersville; Old Store Produce in Huntersville; Renfrow’s Urban Farm in Matthews; and Rivendell Farm in Huntersville.

Farm tour volunteers have a unique opportunity to assist Mecklenburg County farmers showcase their farms and the important work they do: feeding our families. Volunteers work a 3 ½ hour shift, and in return receive a free pass to visit other farms on the two-day tour.

County residents interested in volunteering may sign up at or call Wes Shi at 980-225-1020.

2012 Know Your Farm Tour
The self-guided tour highlights more than 40 farms in 11 counties in the Charlotte metropolitan area. It’s a great opportunity for families to connect with the agricultural community and learn about fruit and vegetable farms, livestock farms, dairy farms, and even an alpaca farms! With over a dozen new stops added to this year’s event, seasoned tour-goers will still have a lot to see. In addition, many farms will be offering fun activities unique to the tour, such as hayrides, petting zoos, and cooking demonstrations.

Tickets are $25 per vehicle in advance. Entrance tickets may also be purchased on tour days at every tour farm for $30. Purchase tickets.
