There are two (2) important changes that will affect your Food and Nutrition Services benefit amounts during October and November 2013. The first change, effective October 1, 2013, is due to the annual United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA). The Food and Nutrition Services benefits amounts will be adjusted to reflect cost of living changes. These changes may or may not increase the monthly benefit amount households receive in October 2013. The second change, effective November 1, 2013, is due to the ending of the 2009 Stimulus Act. In April 2009, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 law raised FNS benefits to help people affected by the recession.
