Child Development-Community Policing
The Child Development-Community Policing (CDCP) Program is a partnership between CMPD and Mecklenburg County Provided Services Organization. It partners responding police officers with child trauma specialists who provide immediate clinical support & needed mental health services to children who are either victims of or witnesses to violent crime or other potentially traumatic incidents.
CDCP serves Charlotte’s children from birth to age 18 and services are free of charge. Over half of the clinical responses involve child witnesses of domestic violence. Many of the other cases involve child witnesses to community violence, as well as at-risk and neglected children.
