​​County Budget Director Elected to GFOA Executive Board

Management and Budget DirectorMecklenburg County Management and Budget Director Michael Bryant has been elected as an At-Large Executive Board Member for the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. 
“I am honored to represent Mecklenburg County and will proudly continue to promote our sound fiscal policies and procedures,” said Bryant.

Michael’s name was submitted to the Executive Board by the national Nominating Committee. He was recently elected by GFOA members at the association’s annual conference in Denver, Colorado and will serve a three-year term.
“I am a firm believer that Mecklenburg County exemplifies sound financial management. We are viewed by our peers across this nation as a model organization in many areas of the public sector – especially as it relates to our budget and finance practices.”
The 18-member Executive Board guides the association and establishes policies. The Board meets quarterly. 
Headquartered in Chicago, GFOA was founded in 1906. The organization represents public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada. Their mission is to promote excellence in state and local government financial management. GFOA is known as a leader and provides best practice guidance, publications, research and more for individuals in the field of public finance. They have over 19,000 members.
