​County Announces Closings for Good Friday Holiday


Mecklenburg CountyMecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Friday, April 14, 2017 in observance of the Good Friday holiday.

This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency (LUESA) Office.

The Department of Social Services Care Line (704-336-CARE or 704-336-2273) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children, the elderly or disabled adults.

The Health Department will be closed on Friday, April 14, 2017.

The Main Library and all library branches be closed on Sunday, April 16, 2017.

Solid Waste administrative offices and all Solid Waste Facilities will be closed on April 14, 2017 except the new Compost Central at 140 Valleydale Road. It will be open from 7 a.m.-4 p.m.

The City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services will operate on a regular schedule. If you are in a town, please check with your town for refuse collection schedules.

Park and Recreation administrative offices will be closed on Friday, April 14. Recreation and Senior Centers and all Nature Centers will be open from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Bette Rae Thomas Rec Center will be open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. 

The Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center will operate from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., the Marion Diehl Pool from 8 a.m.– 4 p.m. and Ray’s Splash Planet will be open from 10 a.m. -6 p.m. on April 14, 2017.

Nature Centers will be OPEN on Easter Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Recreation and Senior Centers, Marion Diehl Pool, the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center and Ray’s Splash Planet will all be closed on Sunday, April 16, 2017.
As a reminder, CharMeck 311 is open and available to the public Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
