What's Going on at Naomi Drenan Recreation Center

 

Youth Athletics:
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation offers a wide variety of athletic programs to youth participants throughout the year. All youth athletics programs are Recreation Center based and take place at various parks and recreation centers throughout Mecklenburg County. Positive Direction Mentoring – NDRC offers a prevention program that will help youths and teens develop critical thinking and decision making skills, and show other useful methods to assist with the prevention of drug use, and abuse. Lil Sista:
This program, founded by Erica Strong, is designed to show young women (ages 11-16) their self worth.  The team will help guide, inspire, and uplift the girls in hopes of becoming intelligent, respectable, strong young women
Saturdays from 9am-12pm
Ages: 11-16
Cost: Free
 
Charlotte Ballet Outreach Program:
This program provides free, accessible, high quality dance instruction and performance opportunities to over 41 students here at the recreation center from ages 7 to 11. Selection for this program will be determined by open auditions for boys and girls, financial need and commitment of the parents to the program. Contact the center to find out when then next audition will be.

 

 




 

 

 

 
Basketball Skills & Drills -  Young men and women ages 12-18 engage in basketball specific drills to develop bask skills such as physical conditioning, defensive sets, shooting drills, ball handling, competition, leadership training, social skills, and character building.
Saturdays from 10am -12pm (Last session starts November)
